Community, Visibility, and Why Our Message Needs to Evolve Pride 2026

With Ferndale Pride just around the corner this weekend, we are incredibly excited to unveil a brand-new collaboration tee created alongside our friends at Orchid Theatre and Parasol. But before you see it on the racks, I want to take a second to talk about the heart behind this design, and how my own journey over the past year shaped it.

Last year, just before coming out publicly as genderfluid, I designed our original "Protect Trans Lives" shirt. That message remains as urgent and necessary as ever. However, looking at the landscape of our community today, it became clear that our message needed an evolution.

Right now, we are facing a dangerous wave of division—not just from the outside, but unfortunately, internal fracturing within the queer community itself. Our trans, queer, non-binary, and intersex siblings are being actively targeted and marginalized. This internal gatekeeping and division is a textbook strategy to divide and conquer us. If we aren't standing shoulder-to-shoulder, we are doing the work of our oppressors for them.

We cannot afford to forget our roots. The very first Pride was not a corporate party; it was a riot built on the blood, sweat, and tears of trans people—specifically Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) trans individuals like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, who stood on the front lines at Stonewall.

As a proudly queer-owned business, Atypical Supply Co. was built to be loud. People like the pioneers who came before us, people like those fighting just to exist today, and people like me all need unwavering support, fierce protection, and radical visibility right now.

When you buy this shirt, wear it out in the world, or even just pass by our booth this weekend, I hope it acts as a catalyst. I hope it keeps the hard conversations alive, sparks visibility where it's needed most, and reminds everyone who sees it that unity is our only path forward.

Come see us this weekend, grab the new collab, and let's stand together.

With love and solidarity,

Kathrine (John) Webb
